Avocado Toast

Avocado Toast – this has become synonymous with millennials – but it’s also just so delicious! It’s such a simple idea, but there are so many ways to dress it up. And it’s always delicious.

In California, it’s easy to find good avocados – so take advantage! They’re not too expensive and they’re ripe all year round. My husband and I spent some time living in the Boston area, and when I could find an avocado it was $3+ per single one and never really ripened correctly. With that said, you can find them sometimes, and for some reason, restaurants still always end up with amazing options! For some reason = they pay for the best to be shipped and selected for them! If you can’t find them near you, I’m sure a local restaurant has it! Nothing against the east coast, but we do have the avocado perks over here on the West!

I made a simple avocado toast, with a little twist of chive cream cheese, and it was SO delicious! I toasted whole grain bread, spread on a layer of chive cream cheese, and loaded it up with half an avocado. I finished it off with sea salt, and it was gone in seconds 🙂

You can do so much with this – just the avocado on toast, add cheese (such as mozzarella or goat cheese), add an egg (fried, scrambled, or poached), add seeds, add nuts…the possibilities seem endless!

Here are also a few photos from local restaurants that have really good options, in case you don’t feel like making it yourself!

One of my personal favorites is from Le Pain Quotidien in Fashion Island, Newport Beach. This place has delicious, healthy food options, and they call theirs “avocado tartine”. Sounds fancier, but it’s avocado toast.

Another yummy option is Burnt Crumbs – with locations in Huntington Beach and Irvine. The one pictured below has toast, ricotta, avocado, and a fried egg!

Overall, you can’t go wrong with avocado on anything – so you should definitely start your day with it!
